How much do I need?
Sound blocker will mostly benefit large flat panels with no folds or creases in them. It will not add much benefit to campervan floors, roofs or wheel arches as these all have ridges in them already to deaden any road vibration sound.
The 80/20 rule applies here, you get diminishing returns once you start applying the mat to areas beyond the flat panels. This stuff is heavy and additional weight in your van means extra fuel, more brake wear and reduced handling.
We recommend 20 pieces for a standard short wheel base panel van with a couple of windows in the back.
Can I use SoundBlocker with a Kiravans DoorStore?
Yes - SoundBlocker will fit behind a Kiravans DoorStore when applied correctly and will not obstruct it. There is space for 4 sheets behind it, and that amount is sufficient to really help reduce sliding door noise. Here's some tips for fitting behind a DoorStore:
- Apply only to the flat areas of the door
- Do not apply to brackets or raised metal sections as it will prevent the DooorStore fitting properly
- Keep the cable in the top void free to move - do not trap it under the SoundBlocker
Is this the same as other vibration damping materials on the market?
Yes - it does the same job as other vehicle sound-deadening mats, but without the extra cost of premium branding. In like-for-like comparisons with leading products, Kiravans SoundBlocker proved comparable for thickness, density and adhesion.
