I had already completed an apprenticeship in Dog Grooming and loved every minute of it, but due to unforeseen circumstances I was no longer able to carry on with this career path.
And this is when I found Kiravans!
Because of my previous experience and enjoyment of undertaking an apprenticeship, I thought it would be a great idea to go ahead and do this again. I had no idea about campervan conversions, but I was very intrigued and excited to find out.
My experience here at Kiravans is more than I could have ever imagined. Everyone in the office is great and when I first joined as an apprentice, they did their best to help in any way they could.
I was at college once a week completing my customer service course and then at Kiravans office for the remaining four days. During my apprenticeship my role at Kiravans was customer service based...responding to emails...answering calls from customers and general administration, as well as the responsibility to check that payments were going through the system properly, check returns in the warehouse and stock updates etc.
My main motivation when I started at Kiravans was to carve out a new career path for myself and the chance to receive a salary whilst I learnt, was very important to me. I already had skills in customer service and I enjoyed it, but knew I could develop these skills further. I really wanted to see how far I could push myself...what I could achieve... and how much more I could learn!
And, I’m very happy to say that I learnt a lot from my apprenticeship here at Kiravans. Not only that, but I continue to learn more and more each day...there is always something new to learn about in this industry, getting to grips with new products and managing customer enquiries etc.
Not only have I learnt a whole load of useful and transferable skills, but I have also learnt a great deal about myself...my likes...dislikes...what works for me within the customer service industry.
For me, my biggest personal accomplishment was completing my college course and receiving my qualification certificates. I am very proud of what I have achieved so far in my career and an apprenticeship for me, was definitely the right option
I am proud to say that I have been with Kiravans for over 2 years now. My first year was undertaking my apprenticeship with the college, and in my second year I was over the moon to be offered a full time job with Kiravans! I have to say it has honestly been the best two years working for such a great company and a full time member of the Kiravans Customer Service team. I thoroughly enjoy talking to people and helping them...when customers are happy, it fills me with confidence and makes me happy too!
If I had any advice to give it would be to have an open mind...anything can happen with apprenticeships...the work can be overwhelming at times, but it is all worth it! In the end...if you work hard, you will have a great career out of it.
