Review of T6.1 front cab curtain

Great quality and easy to fit, looks much better than I hoped so we can still have full access to the front with the seats turned around. It also means no more getting out in the rain to remove the external screen cover. Only reason I havent given it a 5 star is that two of the poppers to attach it to the side panels just arent up to the job and keep coming undone which is frustrating and potentially embarrasing.

Perfect blackout curtains for the VW T6 (other models are available)

Shopped around and bought these as the price was reasonable and the videos to self-install were very good. In addition we had this very curtain system in a Camper King T6 conversion a while back and liked them a lot. Conclusion: if they’re good enough for Camper King, they’re easily good enough for me. (Installed them in a T6 Combi van that now doubles as a semi-camper / overnighter with an Exped self inflating mattress in the back). A little tricky and fiddly to install for one person but using a couple of bits of Blutack to hold the rail in place to get the first two holes drilled then removing the Blutack, all went well. Does need patience and careful thinking through to ensure everything is tickety-boo before drilling but eminently do-able with basic tools. Most holes went through a single sheet of metal body work and a 2mm drill bit was perfect. Other holes went through two (or maybe more) sheets of metal structure and this require opening to 2.5mm in order that the self tapping screws could tap through multi layers without the head shredding. Warning: they are PH1 size and can easily shred if the **** head and **** driver are misaligned, they are forced or they are over-tightened. Once they are lightly hand tight leave them at that! Curtains not only look smart, they are really effective at blocking out all but pin-pricks of light and give total privacy. Top marks Kiravans, five stars from me.

Only comment is elasticated wraps for sun visors could do with being a bit looser. Real stretch to get them over visors.

A very neat, clean and simple solution to the cab curtain dilemma! This is a single privacy day/night curtain to go around your cab windows (windscreen and 2 side windows). It is made from the same stretch-fabric as our rear curtain kits so they will match up nicely. It is about 80% black-out and is plenty dark enough for sleeping and having a lie-in! The curtain drop is 95cm and it falls in front of your dashboard to keep the light out.

When not in use this cab curtain simply rolls up and can be stowed away in a cupboard or under the seat. It is much less bulky than the silver screens and goes up in seconds so it's perfect for daytime privacy too. When camping in colder weather it's a good idea to double it up with insulated cab screens.

Notes on fitting:

You will need to drill a 2mm hole for these poppers to ensure they secure tightly and don't come loose. Whilst, our full curtain kits require you to drill a 2.5mm hole for the rails to screw into the van metal, we've found this to be a bit too big for the popper fitting on the cab curtains.

The cab curtain is fixed on with 6 poppers (supplied). One popper goes in each corner of the windscreen and two on each side on the pillars behind the cab seats. The curtain is shaped and elasticated in the top corners to keep it tight and simply drops down vertically. You can then tuck it in front of the steering wheel if you want to.
