We're really pleased with this new range of tambour doors produced specifically for Kiravans. Just choose your colour and then the width you want. Finally, add on as many rails and curves as necessary typically 6 rails and 4 curves per a door.
We offer 2 different rails for these tambour doors: A surface mounted rail or an embedded rail. Surface mounted means that you are going to simply screw the rail onto a wooden surface. Embedded rails are designed to glue into a routered slot in your furniture.
Surface mounted rails include a recess in the channel for the screw heads (so they don't catch on your doors). You then add the desired amount of curves on. The curves are designed to simply clip in place. Typically you might need 2 curves and 4 rails for a simple right angle bending door arrangement. Tambourline spirals can be used with the Kiravans surface-mounted tracks but you will need to align them carefully to avoid the door catching at the join.
Embedded rails are designed to glue into a routered slot in your furniture for a neater finish. Typically people go for this option if the track is visible. It just gives it a much tidier look. For routered-in rails, you will simply use a routered channel for the hidden part of the track. Please note that the surface mounted curves are not compatible with the embedded rails.
Kiravans Tambours Vs. Tambourline Tambours - Whats the difference?
- Surface mount curve: The profile of Tambourline doors allows for a much neater 'curve' - so if you are using the doors on an exposed corner cabinet where the door rolls around to create a smooth end to your furniture then we recommend Tambourline doors. If your design has the rolling happening out of sight then you simply won't notice any difference.
- Slat width: Kiravans doors are made of 17mm slats, Tambourline uses 20mm slats.
- Handle: The Kiravans doors incorporate a single handle-profile slat at the end of the door. Tambourline includes a second 'final slat' to move the handle a couple of centimetres away from the end of the door.
